Maria Makendenge is a 33-year-old Zimbabwean woman currently residing in the United States who has been accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy in Harare, Zimbabwe.
According to multiple reports, she allegedly followed the complainant to his room and forcibly had unprotected sexual intercourse with him without his consent on August 2, 2025. She reportedly told the boy not to disclose the incident and promised to take him to the US, where she is formally employed.
The boy later told his sister, who informed their mother, leading to a police complaint and Makendenge’s arrest.Makendenge appeared in court in Harare, where she was granted bail of $100 and is scheduled for trial.
The case has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many condemning her actions and questioning the legal age of consent, which in Zimbabwe is 18 years old
